Biography
Born and raised in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, Drashta Sarvaiya graduated with an award for The Most Creative Student of the Year, from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in 2001. After her graduation, she worked as designer for one of India’s leading fashion house Ogaan. Drashta was then employed as a chief designer for an Indo-Irish label.
A signature style of uniquely crafted textiles, the use of color, sharp tailoring and feminine sensuality was strikingly apparent in her first collection.
In September 2005, Drashta launched the luxury fashion house, Drashta Design.
Then in September 2007, Drashta Sarvaiya exhibited her debut collection “Paradiso Fondare” during Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. Balloon silhouettes formed by cowls and drape in exotic shades of parrrot green, fuchsia, Persian red, mint were a feast to the eyes and were lapped up by some of industry’s best fashion magazines for their editorials.
Following this initial show, Drashta Sarvaiya's collections have continued to gather momentum, cementing her reputation as an internationally renowned designer and one of India’s leading designer talents.
At Lakme India Fashion Week 2008, Mumbai, she earned many loyal celebrity clients. Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Eisha Deol, Shruti Hassan and many more who are often seen in Drashta Sarvaiya's creations..
The award winning Drashta Sarvaiya has her presence felt in India, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, South Africa and Germany.
Her luxury fashion house produces two collections a year including two limited edition accessory collections. Drashta is now preparing for a showcasing of her latest Spring/Summer 2011 collection in Paris this year.
